Shock Absorber
newellan:
I have a 06 Z750s which has done 30000 miles and last week the rebound on my rear shock failed. Kawasaki want £551 for a new one - what a joke, I have found one on ebay which was cheap enough to take a chance on and it is working fine.
I may go the route of the zx6 'conversion' at a later date but does anyone know whether the z750 and the z750s were different lengths? Kawasaki says they are different but couldnt tell me how.
Has anyone else had a rear shock failure?
thanks

i used a zx6 2004 shock, direct replacement and about 20 mm longer, thats on the 750, not sure about the s though
newellan:
I might do that in winter, probably alot better feel as well?
I have been led to believe that I the z750 and z750s (2005 &2006) were the same length but the s had more of a 'touring' feel whereas the non-s was sportier - accordingto Mr Kawasaki ...they also said I couldnt fit a later (like 2008) z750s shock onto my s as it was physically different...hmm
Mike L:
The '06 ZX-6R shock is longer than the stock Z750 shock, but if you also install the linkage and dogbones from the ZX-6R, I believe the ride height will stay very close to stock. I modified the shock (ground out the inside of the lower mounting "ears") to fit the stock Z750 linkage, and as a result raised the rear ride height a bit. Helps quicken the steering a bit.
I have a low-mile stock shock if anyone needs one.

Perhaps this could help. I enquired about a shock for my 2009 750...Their email is sales@hagon-shocks.co.uk

It comes complete with all tools for adjustment and fitting instructions.
The Hagon shock is guaranteed for 2 years and is fully rebuildable.

Please state proportion of solo/pillion/luggage use and weights of rider(s) when ordering.
If you choose the bigger reductions you may need to modify your side stand as the bike will not lean sufficiently for stable parking it will also be more difficult to lift the bike onto it’s centre stand.

Many of our Hagon monoshocks can be supplied with the added convenience of our Hagon hydraulic preload adjuster at a cost of an additional £125.00 including vat. This is a great benefit if you are touring.
