Down Shifting problem resolved
« on: February 18, 2011, 06:32:56 PM »
This is my first post (ever) and I just thought I would say what a great help its been already, I gave a shout about a downshifting problem and got a reply straight away advising to lube the Gear lever linkages - 10mins of elbow grease and half a tin of WD40 later and problem resolved. Also needed a new front tyre so read through a few old posts and saw the Conti road attacks got some good reviews, had one fitted yesterday and what a difference (and its not even scrubbed in yet). Keep up the great advice.

Yeah, but some of us good people get tired of the "boot". Ouch!
Dissapointed to find that this motorcycle is no longer being sold in the US. Would like to find out more about its characteristics and possibly locate one for purchase in the future. Discovered this model in a review in Motorcycle Consumer News.

Not sure Rotella is available in the UK but I will definately keep an eye out for it. Unfortunately my downshifter is starting to stick again, I blame it on the Manchester weather (80% rain, 10% sleet, 5% fog & 5% everything else) New tin of elbow grease required.

wd40 isn't really a lasting lubricant. it would wash away pretty quickly in those conditions. i'd try some regular grease.

WD 40 is a penetrant. Not lubricant. Water dispersant 40. Good stuff for getting rid of water and grime but not necessarily for long term lubrication. Use some slippery stuff. Good luck with that weather. California is dry and sunny right now.
