Not reving up above 4k RPM

I recently took my tank off my bike and did some preventive maintence as well as doing a light wash and put he tank back on and washed it afterwards. But putting the fuel line back on it didnt seem to click on all the way because im having trouble with that clip. Its not the connector on the pump side but on the other side of the fuel line. Im not sure if there is a valve on the fuel line and if its not all the way on it wont fully open the valve. There is no fuel leaking out of the hose and there are no kinks in the hose. So im not exactly sure if thats the problem or the problem has to do with me washing the bike and getting water in one of the connector plugs because i also had a problem with my bike not running right after i rode in the rain. Any ideas? Makes sense that it might be a fuel restriction because it starts up fine and idles fine but once i get to 4k it acts like the bike is hitting some sort of limiter.

search is your friend.  fuel line is kinked most likely.  make sure the connection is solid.

Did the tank get jostled at all when you removed it, or put it back on. The reason I am asking is: on Sunday of last week I helped a friend with a GSX-R 600 that wouldn't start. We removed the tank, airbox, plugs, fuel rail, fuel injectors, and fuel pump to test everything. We replaced the plugs, and tested for spark at each plug, checked compression on each cylinder, checked the fuel filters in the injectors and cleaned the filter and injector nozzle. Then put the plugs, injectors and fuel rail back on the bike. When we pulled the fuel pump out of the tank and looked in the tank (tank was upside down) I noticed a couple of parts in the tank that were just sitting in the remnants of the fuel. I grabbed them with a part puller and it turned out to be the check valve and retention clip of the fuel pump that had come off. We cleaned everything up and re-attached the valve and clip to the fuel pump. Put the airbox back on. then the tank and fueled it up. The bike fired up immediately. he said that before it wouldn't start at all the bike had serious lack of power issues like it wasn't getting fuel at higher revs. Then all of a sudden it wouldn't start. We think that the check valve was loose on the pump causing low fuel pressure which higher revs demand.

Having this exact same problem, how did you end up fixing it?

Lift tank with line connected and see if problem continues, sound like kinked line which you can,t see with tank on, if you lift tank and condition changes get a new fuel line, once they are kinked they will do it again. Dealer also have longer line for running bike while tank is off to set throttle bodys, not very expensive and nice to have because you can see. Good Luck
