Muzzy Install
« on: October 23, 2011, 07:52:18 AM »
I got my muzzy, PC III, and K&N today and couldn't wait to pop it on.  I got it all hooked up and mapped, but the Muzzy mid pipe doesn't want to go down all the way.

I tried spinning it and pushing the hell out of it, but it doesn't go far enough down for the spring to catch?  Any tips or am do I just have the upper body strength of a fetus?

Once all this is pretty I'm taking it to get dyno'd. I had it dyno'd two days ago at 98HP and 58 LBS of tourque, not bad for 15,000 miles, but I'm curious what this will add.

Thanks for the help.

Does it not go over the header as far as the mid-pipe? If so, how much too short?

Or are you talking about the muffler over the mid-pipe (that's where the springs are on the Scorpion my son is running)?

In either case, if it is hitting a hard stop, that's as far as it goes unless you trim something.  If it is a matter of running out of clearance, you might be able to have a muffler shop neck down the forward end of your mid-pipe a bit till it fits.

The mid pipe is just not going down far enough on the header, by about 1/2 or 1/4 inch.  Everything lines up alright, there really wasn't a squeeze bolting the muffler on.  I rode it to work today just fine, no exhaust leak.  When I have it tuned and dyno'd, I'll just have them look at it.
