Seeking assistance for mechanical issues
« on: December 07, 2011, 05:25:19 AM »
Hey y'all.  I've had my 2007 z750s for about 6 months.  Recently I've noticed a few issues that are causing me some concern.  I'm hoping for some insight as to whether I should get it into the shop asap or not. So here goes:

1. Occasionally there smells like something burning coming from the front end.  It only happens periodically, usually when it's a little colder out. I've notice a couple times while I was riding, but usually it happens when I start it up in the morning.

2. Sometimes there is a squealing sound which seems to be coming from the front tire upon take off.  I'm not sure if maybe I am not warming up the bike enough, but it only lasts for 50 feet or so and does not return for the duration of that ride.  It really only seems to happen when I'm starting off after the bike has sat for at least 4 hours and it's a bit cold out.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  I don't really want to take her to the shop without a little more information.  Thanks  :)

Not sure about the burning smell. But the squeal from the front end is probably the calipers being seized on a little to the discs. You could remove them and give a good clean or keep spraying them with brake cleaner before and after every ride

For the smell, make sure that you don't have oil dripping on the exhaust.
