Fuel pump

2006 Z750S
Won't start, fuel pump doesn't seem to be working, checked all fuses, disconected line from fuel pump, and no fuel when i turn on the key, or when I try to crank it.
Am I correct in thinking that it should be pumping fuel?
And what else could I check?
