Installing crash protectors
« on: January 16, 2012, 11:52:54 PM »
Hello,
I want to install crash protectors on my bike and came around with this website - http://www.rg-racing.com/Images/Products/ProductFields/pdf173_60.pdf - but for me it seems strange to install the protectors as shown on the instruction there, shouldn't the protectors be installed a bit more forward where the 2 bolts are close to each other? Anybody have some history of spilling the bike and know smthg about it?
Thanks!
Taavi

I have crashed the zed and had protectors. But the ones I had fitted to the front engine mounts. The protected the tank and top of the engine. But the generator cover was damaged. Oh and they were for the 04 zed. So not sure if you can get the same for the 07.
Check these out. They look better. http://www.ebay.com/itm/EP-Crash-Protector-Bobbins-Kawasaki-Z750-2007-2008-2009-2010-2011-2012-/360426677085?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item53eb1aa35d

Shogun frame sliders for the Z1000 also work on the earlier Z750's including the S, and mount to the front upper mounting bolt.  For being mounted so high (one issue when the engine is a stressed member and no frame runs under it), they do a reasonable job of protecting the bike.  My son's bike has been down 3 times (from two different riders) and the sliders limited damage to scuffing at the bottom edges of the clutch and pulser covers (but kept the bike rideable) and a buff on the outermost corners of the fairing.  I don't think they would mount to the newer Z750's since the radiator side covers may also cover those mounting bolt locations.
