Tail tidy light
« on: January 23, 2012, 01:07:04 AM »

I've got a z750 2008 and have ordered a tail tidy ,but it does not include a small light for lighting up registration plate. So I contacted the seller and he says I don't need one because the rear main light will light up the plate. Is he correct and is it legal here in great Britain ?

By law number plate must be illuminated. Your friendly MOT man may let you off but you can still get pulled by plod for it.

You're actually more likely to fall foul of the MOT than the old bill. As a rule of thumb, if you're plate is sufficiently illuminated to be seen in the dark then you are highly unlikely to get pulled (except in Wales...no sense of humour there!) Even if some over keen pro-con pulls you it'll just be an advisory.
It is better to have tried and failed than to stand with those poor meek timid souls who know neither victory or defeat..
