Can't inspect or replace fuel filter??
« on: February 03, 2012, 10:59:39 PM »
The Z750S service manual states that the fuel filter is integrated with the pump and can't be inspected or replaced. The entire pump needs to be replaced.

Has anyone had a different experience?

My tank cap had a bunch of corrosion on it, so I know I got at least some aluminum oxide in the tank. Id like to at least inspect the filter, before dropping $250-300 on a new pump + filter...

Thoughts?

I think I recall reading somewhere here that a member took it apart and cleaned it.

Ill try to find that... Looks like some bot wants to make it hard to find anything!

Im actually having a problem just getting the pump out... The end of the pump is wider than the opening on the bottom of the tank.. hmm.. I'll keep working on it.

Think pump needs twisted and pulled out at the same time.

Cool. I got it out, disassembled, and found all sorts of bugs and crap on the filter. I just ordered a new one anyway.. The lines were filled with crud, too.

I was able to clean and re-assemble my current pump, and it seems fine.. but the new one is already en route, so I'll replace it this weekend.

Keep the old pump in a gallon zip lock bag so nothing gets into it. Then if you have problems with the new pump down the road you can re-install the old one so you aren't dead in the water until a replacement comes in.
